Today, we will breakdown exactly what the Thunder did to break down The Raptor. 2 weeks ago a guest contributor wrote up a very nice article on Demar Derozan explaining what an oddity he is in today’s NBA and defining how exactly he makes it work. Monday night however, the Thunder dismantled Derozan forcing him into an 8-22 night.

I was taking a look at the Warriors Spurs matchup from last Saturday and something jumped out to me. Over the last 2:23 of the game, the Warriors didn’t score a single point. With 2:23 left in the game Klay Thompson drives to the basket and scores at the rim to bring the score to 79-82, Spurs. The Spurs only score 5 points the rest of the way, but the Warriors never come close to challenging. How in the world did this happen? Let’s take a look.
I had an idea this morning. This could be an entirely irrelevant discussion, or it’s something worth considering and I might have a new rabbit hole to explore.
It's easy to take highlights and extrapolate greatness. That's probably what I'm doing to an extent on this breakdown. In no way, shape or form am I proclaiming great defense is an option for Kanter, but he did a highly respectable job against the Blazers on Monday. Enough that I felt it warranted a look. These breakdowns all come from the first half, because no part of the second half was competitive.
*Also, please excuse anytime I mistake Plumlee and Leonard. Guest Post Edition (props to YM)
Today we will have a breakdown of the Raptor's superstar, Demar Derozan. Wait.
Hold on. Are you telling me that D’Angelo Russell isn’t a bust and that having a maniac coach that hates rookies and playing on an organization intent on using this entire season as a fairwell parade to an individual player is an awful circumstance to develop youth? Damn. I’m going to have to reevaluate everything I believe. A 39 point outburst hopefully will be enough to wake up the Lakers. They can’t keep letting Byron Scott systematically destroy any confidence and development of their young players can they? Their only hope right now is to get young guys like Russell, Randle, Clarkson and even Larry Nance Jr. enough confidence and experience to act as a foundation for this team going forward. Recent history tells us they aren’t able to attract free agents anymore (the subtraction of Kobe might make them more attractive but that is a taboo topic). The sooner they ditch Byron and allow these kids to flourish the sooner they turn the corner. The league is better when the Lakers matter. Make the league better, please. Steph Curry made 12 3’s against the Thunder on 16 attempts last Saturday. Let’s look at what happened and what should have happened defensively on each of these. I’ll get to the end of this and just drop my head in disbelief because I doubt there is a lot of fault in these makes. It’s Steph’s league and everyone is just playing in it right now.
