UPDATED! Today, I was running through some statistics such as WS/48, VORP and my Layman's metric just seeing how they all compared up to this point in the season. Eventually, I put player's ranks on their respective team's for each metric then selected out the top 5 on average. (There was filtering based on minutes played >100 on the season). I did not do any selection based on positions. Here are the top 5 man units for each team based on average ranking of the three metrics listed. Congrats to OKC for having 3 of their best players as bigs. That's really useful. Enes, was ranked # 5. If you were to switch him out with the number 6th ranked, you would get Dion Waiters.... UGH.
Anyway, ignoring OKC, the rest of the teams on here make a lot of sense. Hard to miss the lack of D Rose for Chicago. The most experienced player showing up for Minnesota is Gorgui Dieng so that's cool. Philadelphia is a dumpster fire. Jahlil and Nerlens both missing from the list. Yikes. Boston has Marcus Smart as their 6th ranked player. Boy would I love for them to decide they can move past him and focus on upgrading their bigs. I'm hoping to spend some time going through and seeing the relative amount of times each of these lineups have played together so far this year. I honestly, expect them to be high for nearly every team. |
